Question 1

What is a halo diamond engagement ring?

Accepted Answer

A halo diamond engagement ring features a center diamond surrounded by a ring of smaller accent diamonds, creating a frame that amplifies the center stone's size and brilliance. It's one of the most popular engagement ring styles.

Question 2

How does a halo setting make a diamond look larger?

Accepted Answer

The halo of accent diamonds extends the visual footprint of the center stone, making it appear significantly larger. A well-designed halo can add the visual equivalent of 0.25–0.50 carats to the center stone's apparent size.

Question 3

What center stone shapes work best in a halo setting?

Accepted Answer

Round is the most popular center stone for halo settings. Oval, cushion, pear, and marquise shapes also work beautifully — the halo is typically shaped to complement the center stone's outline.

Question 4

Are halo engagement rings more expensive than solitaires?

Accepted Answer

Yes, generally. Halo rings require additional accent diamonds and more complex metalwork, which adds to the overall cost compared to a solitaire. The difference varies by design and stone quality.

Question 5

Can I add a hidden halo to my engagement ring at Best Brilliance?
