Guy Mendel, founder of Best Brilliance

Meet the Founder

Guy Mendel, Certified Gemologist

The certificate is where most jewelers stop. It is where we start.

Every stone, examined by hand. Every order. Yes, it is harder. That is the point.

2013

The year Guy chose a stricter way to build fine jewelry.

100%

Every center stone is reviewed by our gemology team before setting.

Generations of diamond trade experience behind the Best Brilliance standard.

Guy Mendel inspecting diamonds

A certificate measures a stone. It does not tell you if it is beautiful.

Two diamonds with identical paperwork - same color, same clarity, same cut grade - can look nothing alike in person. One sings. The other sits there. The certificate does not know the difference.

We do. Every center stone is examined by a gemologist on our team before it is set. Not a sample. Every one.

The trade-off most online sellers do not say out loud.

Selling fine jewelry online is expensive. Marketing, photography, and the systems that keep every made-to-order piece moving through production all have to be paid for.

The quiet shortcut

A slightly thinner shank. A lighter gold weight. A stone with a faint grey or brown tint the certificate does not catch.

The choice we made

Our prices reflect what it actually costs to do this properly - not what it costs to look proper on paper.

I was not willing to run a business on the assumption that paperwork was enough.

I am a certified gemologist, and I married into a family that has been in the diamond trade for three generations. Between us, we have seen what gets shipped against a clean certificate - and we have seen what should have shipped instead.

In 2013 I decided that was not going to be how this company operated. Twelve years later, that is still the hardest decision we make every day. And the most important one.

No middlemen. No drop-shipping. No guessing.

Your order moves through people who understand the piece, not a chain of anonymous vendors.

01

Gemology review

Gemologists who grade and review every center stone before it is approved for setting.

02

Design and setting

CAD designers model your ring before metal is cut, then master setters work to our spec.

03

Final ownership

A QC lead signs off on every piece, and a US-based customer team knows your order.

You should not have to take any of this on faith.

Order a ring. Open the box. Look at the stone in daylight, in lamplight, against your skin. If it does not move you, send it back - we will make it right or refund you, no debate.

That is the only proof that matters. Everything on this page is just me telling you why I am confident you will not need to.
