Question 1

What is a white gold engagement ring?

Accepted Answer

A white gold engagement ring features a band crafted in white gold — yellow gold alloyed with white metals and coated with rhodium to achieve a bright, white finish. White gold is one of the most popular choices for engagement rings for its clean, modern look.

Question 2

Does white gold need to be re-plated over time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. White gold is coated with rhodium to achieve its bright white finish. Over time, the rhodium plating can wear and the ring may need replating — typically every 1-2 years depending on wear. This is a quick, inexpensive process.

Question 3

Is white gold or platinum better for an engagement ring?

Accepted Answer

Both are excellent choices. Platinum is naturally white and won't require replating; white gold needs periodic rhodium plating. Platinum is also denser and more durable. White gold is a more accessible price point; platinum is the premium long-term choice.

Question 4

What diamond shapes look best in white gold?

Accepted Answer

Virtually any diamond shape looks beautiful in white gold. The cool, bright tone of white gold enhances the colorless appearance of diamonds and complements all shapes equally well.

Question 5

Can a white gold engagement ring be resized?

Accepted Answer

Yes. White gold engagement rings can be resized. Best Brilliance offers one complimentary ring resizing within the first 60 days of receipt.
